General Teaching Philosophy

I struggled a lot though my life trying to figure out what I really wanted to do and what made me happy. I found my love of art and decided nothing would be better than sharing my passion with others. I want to show my future students it’s alright to create raw artwork that expresses who they are. I want to pass on the skills they will need to achieve that and give them the support to be themselves through art. I believe it’s important to have structure in an art room but also freedom to create and choose your own subject. I want my students to know that my classroom is safe and a place where they are free to make art for themselves. I will encourage them to put their heart and souls into their projects so the end product will have much more meaning to them. I will teach them the skills they will need to transfer what they feel into something they can see and use for the rest of their lives.
